New Posts

I haven’t done much really in the way of updating the contents of AgustinongPinoy. After it became visible on the web again, all I’ve done is to post somethings about my forty-third birthday celebration. The most recent post is about last Saturday evening’s birthday celebration at the parish.. Bible Notes Simply Blogs and the Mystical Geek have been quite dynamic. I have been posting almost everyday on those blogs. Those of the Mystical Geek are recycled posts from an exclusive blogging network where I write on Spirituality and Web Technology. My WordPress tutorials at Blogsome is picking up a readership. You may also want to check it out.

Simply Blogs

Filed under:

Simply Blogs is currently out of commission. It has the same problems as AgustinongPinoy: legacy server. Don’t look for it in the coming days. I’ll just announce it here when it is again available. Here are some interesting blogs about the Santo Niño:

  • "To The Beat of Drums" is about the secularization of the Sinulog festivities.
  • Here is a Picture Blog about the MGC Parish Santo Nino celebrations.
  • The above chronologically follows another one on the difficulty of disassociating the veneration of images (Catholic) and the “paganism” of popular religiosity.
  • And finally, one on the history of the devotion to the Holy Child.

Histories and Legends

Did you know how Tim Berners-Lee described the World Wide Web for the first time? Google has released its twenty year timeline of UseNet Discussion Groups, the first internet discussion forum. I saw it for the first time this afternoon and describe it here.. Be sure to follow the links in this post.
As the feast of Sto. Niño is drawing near, I began to look for articles about the Holy Child of Cebu and devotion to Him. I found an article, however, that told me something I didn’t know about the Cebuanos love for the Sto. Niño, a love shrouded in myth and legend. I blog about it here and here.

Blog Updates at AgustinongPinoy

Filed under:

When I logged online after lunch, AgustinongPinoy was up so I immediately added some updates in Bible Notes and Blogs.AgustinongPinoy. I honestly don’t know whether the site will now remain accessible or if this is just temporary. Let’s wait and see. In the meantime, just read what I posted recently.

TropangQuazo Where Are You?

Filed under:

Just in case some member of TropangQuazo passes by and finds these blogs:
I have recently created a Google Group account for TropangQuazo. You can find it at this link. I originally intended it for batch 78, but seeing that there wasn’t any other batch represented there, I am putting it at the disposal of ANY TropangQuazo batch for news updates and for collaborative work on the web. The promotional box for the Google Group is found here If you have a website, just copy the HTML codes for the box and post it somewhere on your site. That would be a great help for helping others find TropangQuazo@googlegroups.com

News About AgustinongPinoy
It is still down, that’s what. This is getting to be realy bad. Not even the server where the site is installed has been accessible. Just keep on checking this blog for updates. :(

So What’s New?

Filed under:

Right now, I am wondering whether it is possible to create a javascript that would automatically show to the browser whether a particular site is up or down (in this case AgustinongPinoy) so that anyone who visits the site is immediately redirected to Angfrayle. Knowing however that the guys from 100WebSpace are installing new hardware to the server makes the downtime understandable. In any case, the fact that AgustinongPinoy is once more down throws me off balance. I couldn’t do anything with the site, nor can others do anything to it (like cataloguing the changes I’ve made since yesterday and giving it more exposure in search engines).
In any case, I have not been wholly idle. A request from one of those who have been following my tutorials have asked me about blogging. So I am turning the former “Daily, Daily” blog into a WordPress Tutorial. It is now called “DigiTyped” and I hope that others would register there and have their first experience of blogging under my wings.
I have also beefed up my old Simply Blogs. I had intended “Simply Blogs” to be a kind of “scratch WordPress.” In other words, it was a kind of development-WordPress that I practised on, modifying, customizing according to my own needs, so that I can use the skills I’ve developed in real WordPress production blogs; a “sketchpad” you might say, in relation to the painting that is displayed. I am putting it at your disposal, and the disposal of the blogosphere for whatever usefulness it may have in terms of the ideas I express therein.
Boh, so much for the day’s activities…

Didn’t Take 24 Hours After All

Filed under:

AgustinongPinoy is back up once more. It didn’t take the whole twenty-four hours for the guys at 100Webspace to do their job. So I was able to post some new things at AgustinongPinoy. There is a note however about server hardware still to be checked. We hope that nothing bad happens to the server once more.

Up Again, Down Again

Once more, AgustinongPinoy is down.

hollosite.com and idohost.com down due to hardware failure

Publish date - 2005-01-05

Dear Customers,

Our server hosting hollosite.com and idohost.com is down due to hardware failure. We are currently replacing hardware items on the machine and the maintenance will continue during the next 24 hours. We need to set up and test the new hardware in order to avoid any further complications.

Thank you for your understanding and appreciate your patience on this matter!

100WebSpace Team

It is really a pain.
